Judy's Daughter, Arielle. . .

Introducing Arielle!

Arielle has a lot of resemblance to her mother, Judy, just a little shorter and a little more green.  Both have a beadboard backing (which, by the way, looks fantabulous on both)!  Arielle is very adaptable to new environments and will fit in in nearly any room you choose to put her.  She likes to serve a purpose, but looks good while doing it.  Call or email if you are interested in making Arielle a member of YOUR family!

Amazing Kitchen transformations using Caromal Colours

You've heard the old saying that paint is the cheapest and easiest way to transform a room?  What if you aren't totally in love with your kitchen cabinets?  Have you thought about painting them?  Caromal Colours textured basecoats make it so simple to do.  There is no prep work.  No priming, sanding, or stripping before applying this paint.  The textured basecoats even cover the grain on oak cabinets!

Here is a BEFORE picture of a kitchen from The Virginia House:

And here is the incredible AFTER using Cobblestone and Wisteria textured basecoats:

Nothing short of amazing!

You can do this yourself!  I promise!  If you would like to order some paint click on the button on the top of my blog and it will take you directly to the store.  Be sure to use discount code:  BrendaUtah (case sensitive, capital B, capital U) to save on shipping costs.  If you have any questions whatsoever, please email me and I will get back to you ASAP!  bjroundy@msn.com.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions. . .

Hip, Hip, Hooray!

My hubby is coming home tomorrow (finally)!
If I were him, though, I am not sure I would want to.

hawaii

He has the choice between 83 degrees and sunny in Hawaii or freezing and snow in Utah?  Let's see here, what to do?  If he didn't miss me so much, he would probably choose Hawaii, but he can't stand to be away from me (I am sure that the kids have nothing to do with his homesickness at all)!  Just kidding!  He really misses the fam.  It will be so nice to have him home again and get back to "our normal."  What is normal anyway?  It is all so relative.  "The only normal people are the ones you don't know very well." --Alfred Adler.  Hahaha!  Seriously, though, we are the only normal family I know.  It's everyone else who is cuckoo!
Just like I am the only driver who knows what the HECK I am doing on the road anyways!  Fo Real Shizzle!

I do not know what just came over me!  I started talking like Snoop Dog or something!
I did just watch a movie on Woodstock.  Maybe that had something to do with
my temporary lapse in judgement?
I will just end this post while I am ahead and go back to my "normal" family life!

High Hopes for This One!

I recently went to an estate sale and this diamond in the rough was sitting in the back room holding a hodge podge of things.

Everyone else passed by without so much as a second glance, but I was drawn to him!  I knew that one day I could shine this diamond and make it amazing!

The wheels were spinning in my head (take off the lone door, putty the hinge holes, extend the middle shelf flush with the front, paint it a beautiful two-tone color, and fill the open shelves with baskets).  I wasn't sure if I liked the detail on it or not, but it is growing on me.

I just can't get over what it could be some day.  If only my partner would hurry up and get home so he could help me!  Stay tuned, the best of this piece is yet to come!

This Visitor Was Very Welcome!

If you know me you know that our sweet dog, Boozer, died about a year ago.

The whole family was devastated because we loved him so much.  We tried another dog, but this time we got a black lab named Miley.  Miley was out of control, chewed up the entire drip system in the back yard, dug holes to the neighbors, and was just plain too much energy for us.

We knew we wanted another dog but waited until the right one came along.  Long story short, Justin surprised the kids and brought home a new puppy last Friday!  She is adorable and we adore her.

Meet Lola Larue.
Here she is with Jaggyr.  Lola likes to pose for pics.
Isn't she the cutest thing you have ever seen?
Lola plays so hard that she will all of a sudden just crash.

Look at her cute wrinkles of skin that she will
one day grow into.
Like I said, we adore her and I am pretty sure
she loves her new home.
The kids are so happy to have a new puppy.
They miss Boozer, a lot, and Lola is actually Boozer's niece.

I will be doing another giveaway next week, so keep checking back.

What's a Gal to Do?

For a while it seemed like every piece of furniture we called on had "just been sold."  Now my garage is overflowing with projects to do and my Partner in Crime has to go to Hawaii to "work."  Ya right.  Who really uses that excuse and thinks people are going to buy it?

The above pic is what most people think of when they hear the word "Hawaii," but the below pic is what I think of when I hear the word:

I know it's ridiculous!  I have never before been attacked by a shark.  I am going to blame this one on the movie "Jaws."  Think about it, jaws came to the theaters in 1975.  I probably saw it when I was about 9 and it came out on video.  A giant shark sneaks out of the depths of the ocean and pulls people under water and you suddenly see a red bloody pool where that person used to be.  What a horror movie!  I was very afraid to swim in local lakes because I had no idea what was lurking beneath.  I even had this irrational fear about my cousin's swimming pool.  I am not kidding you when I say how scared I would be to fly to Hawaii because you have to be over the ocean for so long, and, God forbid, something goes wrong with the plane and it goes down in the ocean.  Any rational person would think that they would be dead when the plane hit the ocean, but no, not me!  I keep thinking that with my luck I would be the only person to survive the impact and sharks would swarm me and eat me alive!  There you have it!  My biggest "irrational" fear!  I might need to go to therapy one day for this, but for now I will just not fly over oceans (there goes that trip to Europe that I dream about)!

Seriously, though, we picked up some great pieces that we will need to get around to finishing.  My garage is literally full and that is fabulous!

Here are just a few of the great pieces we have:

Courtesy of my wonderful Mom!

Dresser courtesy of my Mom again!
7-UP crate from a yard sale (it is awesome)!

Courtesy, once again, of Momma!

Awesome estate sale I went to with my Sisters-in-laws!

Cute end table.

This cute piece is so teensy!  I think it is made for
Cute Little Grandma's with little
teeny houses and short couches!
Wish me luck in my endeavors!

If any of you see a particular piece you like and would like
to order your own colors, shoot me an email.

Remember, Caromal Colours puts out an amazing paint!

Rusty with Chippy Paint

I would like to introduce you to "Dusty," er, I mean "Rusty."

This is a cute little table that we are re-doing for a client, Bonnie.  She has a lot of furniture and not a lot of time to finish everything, so sent me home with some to put my own spin on it.  I really think Rusty has grown into a fine young thing!

I wanted to do something different than the other pieces we have done.  I wanted it to look like layers of paint were chipping off and wearing away with time because it is so old.  We used Caromal Colours Colonial Blue and Bayberry textured basecoats.  Only this time we applied both colors at the same time, didn't use chipping creme, but absolutely love how it turned out.

Here is what it looked like in the process.  I got a little scared for a minute! Just you wait until the final reveal, though.  It gets so much better!
And 1, and 2, and 3, and 4:

The lighting is so much better outside.

Rusty really knows how to work it, don't ya think?

Rusty will be graduating and moving out of my house in a few days.  He can then be found @ 7601 S. State, Midvale.

Meet Erma!

Here is Erma's "before" shot:
She's a pretty little cedar chest.
Erma is an old-fashioned gal with updated taste.
I am not one
to give away people's age, but she is an antique!
Erma is from the late 1940's.
She belonged to my sister-in-law's grandmother named,
you guessed it, Erma!

Erma was lovingly passed on to me from my SIL to do
with as I pleased.
This time we didn't distress her.  That is my
absolute favorite thing to do, but some
people like a solid color, so I obliged!
We applied Caromal Colours Cobblestone textured
basecoat, then sealed it with a Kiss (not really!).
We sealed it with Minwax Wipe-On Poly
as we are out of Liberon Wax.

We kept her original detailed hardware
but put a fresh coat of spray paint on it.

I think Erma looks just beautiful now.
She is going to live in LaVerkin now at Leo's house.
My SIL says that her Granny would be happy
because she loved Southern Utah so much!

Leo and Jen, Please treat Erma well!

J-J-J-Judy!

I cannot believe I did not take a picture of the before of Miss Judy other than this piece of Judy's old back!
I am not sure what color this is.  For this post we will just call it Submarine Yellow, Mkay?

We got her at a yard sale today on clearance because the wind had blown her over and punched a hole in her back!  Poor, poor Judy!  We rescusitated her though and gave her a second chance at life.

Judy was painted with Comfort Grey (which is actually
more of a blue to me, but whose counting?)

We replaced Judy's broken back with some
beautiful beadboard paneling.

Believe it or not, I actually get to keep this
old girl!  I KNOW!
Judy is going to be in charge of all of my Caromal Colours
Product, accessories, and miscellaneous.
It is a big job, but I know Judy is up to the challenge!
She has had a little work done and feels like
a new Woman!

I can't wait to fill 'er up with more product!

Have a happy weekend!

Meet "Eli" (and Bells)

"Eli" likes to take long walks on the beach.  He prefers serious conversation over
candlelit dinners.  He is a perfectionist, yet has a wild side and he knows how to P-A-R-T-Y!

Oh Sorry!  I thought I was writing a Match.com ad. . . Back to "Eli."  Bells had the privilege of naming this lovely dresser so wanted to be in the picture.  She is rather camera shy (NOT!).

We used Caromal Colours textured basecoats on "Eli."
The bottom paint layer is Putty, and the top is a lovely
Colonial Blue.  We also applied toner over the entire dresser
to really set the color.
We kept the hardware that was on it when we bought it
as I really thought it looked good.

And one more Bells shot!
Over and Out!
